Digital Image Processing

Digital image processing(DSP) is a subcategory or field of digital signal processing. It can be defined as the use of computer algorithms to perform image processing on digital images. A digital image is the representation of a real image which is composed of picture elements, also known as pixels, each with finite, discrete quantities of numeric representation for its intensity or gray level. Image processing is the processing of extracting the required features from an image for different applications.

Mainly used DSP techniques are,

  • Image restoration

  • Image enhancement

  • Data compression

  • Feature extraction
